Tools Required For Upgrading Your Notebooks:
- A Penny
- Torx Screwdriver
- Vice Grips
Upgrading Your Apple MacBook Laptop Hard Drive:
- Take a penny to open up the battery compartment.
- Remove the battery.
- Remove the screws from the inner-side of the laptop.
- Remove the strip of metal that seperates the battery from the hard drive.
- Pull on the two levers to release the memory.
- Remove the stock memory to upgrade it with faster better memory. [Kingston Memory was used in this demostration]
- To upgrade your hard drive, pull the white tab next to where the battery was, which pulls out the hard drive.
- Slide the new drive right back in.
- Replace the metal strip and screws.
- Place the battery into it's propor slot and place the cover back on the laptop.
- Your done, in under 8 minutes.
Upgrading Your Lenovo IBM Thinkpad Laptop Hard Drive:
- Unscrew the door on the back of the laptop, which will reveil the memory.
- Push back on the two levers to pop the memory out
- Place the memory in at an angle and press down.
- Unscrew the second door on the back which releases the hard drive which gets pulled out of the side.
- Slide the new drive in and your done, in under 5 minutes.
- We recommend you visit Crucial or Kingston to purchase your memory.
- You can check what RAM your motherboard takes using Crucial's Memory Advisor.

- Remember that the new drive will be blank - you will need to reinstall your OS and software.
- If you have an enclosure you can image your old drive to the new drive before you swap drives.
- At the very least be sure to backup your important documents prior to swaping drives.
- On a perpendicular drive drive, the bits stand upright, allowing eight times the density of a standard drive.
